What Will My Blogs Be About?

     My name is Prather Ford, I am 17 years old and a senior attending high school. My semester is coming to an end and I plan on enlisting in the Air Force a few months after graduation.
     I feel like a lot of veterans in the U.S. do not get enough recognition for the sacrifice and risk they put upon themselves to make our country as powerful as it is today. Anytime I see a man or women dressed in uniform, decorated in medals, or wearing an article of clothing that explains his service, I believe they should be thanked and treated with respect.
     That is why I am starting this blog, to share the stories of our veterans who put their life on the line for us to shape the country we are today.

Staff Sergeant Marlen Ueltzen

     I met Marlen Ueltzen at a Goodwill on January 23 while shopping for a school spirit week event. As I was looking at the flannel shirts, i noticed a blue hat with the airforce patch and word veteran sewn across the bill. I shook his hand, thanked him for his service, and he told me his story as if it were written on the back of his hand. '      Marlen Ueltzen joined the Airforce in 1957 as an aircraft mechanic and served a six year term which ended 1963. Ueltzen left the Airforce with an acquired rank of an E-6, or otherwise known as a Staff Sergeant (SSgt).      On August 6, 1945, Enola Gay became the first aircraft to drop the atomic bomb called "Little Boy." The Enola Gay was a Boeing B-29 Superfortress which was named after the mother of the pilot, Paul Tibbets. Michael Love US Army Mainframe Operator

     I met Michael love my first year in highschool without knowing he served a 4 year term in the United States Army. Michael Love graduated from Holt High School in 1987 and is now a Computer Technician and has been working at the school for around 14 years since 2005 and joined the tech departed in 2006.      Love served from 1987 through 1991. During his service he worked as a  Computer Mainframe Operator. Computer Mainframe Operators are responsible for putting large military grade PC's to work and solve whatever problems, or perform whatever tasks, which require such massive hardware to accomplish.       Operation Desert Storm was launched on January of 1991 to support Operation Desert shield which would strength the US soldiers along the Persian Gulf.
